Too little too late, in my opinion, but here it is anyway.
"Available immediately, Valve has launched an extensive update to Counter-Strike: Source, now in beta.
The update includes a host of new features and functionality developed in collaboration with Hidden Path Studios. These include 144 new achievements, a new domination and revenge system, player stats, and more.
This beta will run for a limited time, and once complete, the update will be deployed to all Counter-Strike: Source owners for free via Steam.
Server admins may download the dedicated server files via the HLDSUpdateTool using "-game cssbeta" in the command line."
I wonder if there will be further updates. Frankly I'm amazed that Valve bothered with this at all. The game's good, but it's virtually dead, and a lot of people have moved on.

this is just becoming more and more like tf2, doesnt that proove that tf2 is, and always was, better than css?

2 different games, 2 different opinions, its all subjective.

Not to mention they spent 6+ years on making TF2, you'd HOPE it was 'better' (read: more modernized and polished) than CSS, which was already 3 years old when TF2 was released.

yeah. tbh i was hoping at E3 valve would release a new ip or atleast an updated version to counter-strike.

Upcoming game from the original creator of CS, Tactical Intervention could be considered the spiritual successor to CS/S (maybe).

really? mhm have to look at maybe and see. im still hoping valve at E3 will have something with portal 2

Well imo CSS should stay the way it is (b4 the beta update). You will loose alot of players who dislike the major changes.
I don't play much of it.
But original is always better. ADDONS are fine... but complete reconstruction was never the way to go.
@moose- CSS is not virtually dead. There are as many css players as tf2 players imo.
Also dominations will pretty much annoy players in css lol.
