Heh, I could point them to several files on the internet that would render their mac completely useless, yet would do absolutely nothing to a PC.

I think mac has its place in the market. What pisses me off about macs are mac USERS. they are generally pricks who think they know more about computers than you and will argue with you about how mac are far superior than pcs. it makes me rage even more when you completely destroy their argument only for them to come back with "well im just happy your happy with your pc."

Oh and "no viruses on mac" is the biggest most fucking ignorant thing they can say about macs.

Oh shit, I got a mate who is exactly like that. Yet when I ask him what he plays WoW on, he says his PC......

Yeh I hear if you install something like OSX on a mac, it becomes pretty useless straight away.

It's not suprising to see all the apple hate lol, on a forum full of gamers and hardware enthusiasts, i'm not a huge fan but i dont not like them, i think they get alot of unfair treatment due to the egoitsm (though rabib pc fans are no better) of there users and there marketing, there markesting is shit and brings alot of shit on em, but thats the angle they choose to spin so meh and doesent effect the end product.

A Mac can run WoW natively, infact macs have a pretty large game libary and now with the addtion of steam and valve porting there titles over its getting better and better.

I can count the times i have seen my start screen/loading pc shit on my macbook on one hand and ive had it 3+years, i just close the lid and be done with it, open again and instantly get back to where i was with everything when i closed it.

to say "macs are safe" would be ignorant, but the "no viruses on mac" is not that far fetched and would be a fair statement if you replace 'no' with something a little less definitive like 'very few' or 'hardly any', again im talking about virus's not network vulnerabilities, malware, spyware, trojans ect ect .

Macs can generally do everything a PC can, it covers all the bascis, internet, audio/video players, audio/movie/picture editing, games and can even run ms word/excel/powerpoint or god knows what industry standard software out there.

You might find theres more PCs then Macs in a office situtation but mac skills are transferabble to pc and vice versa.

In the end its all personal preference, the gamers, modders and hardware geeks will go PC and the artists, musicians, producers ect will go mac then the casuals and everday use people will go either side.

but which ever side we go

were both suckers to these power hungry greedy tycoons

Edit: forgot to add, pcs come with so much mess

@Witch: Sure, maybe - If we were being rational - but it's so much more fun to just outright hate on apple. Honestly, I don't even *need* a reason. I know I can come up with some If I wanted to, but it's just default hate when it comes to Apple.

And as for artists preferring macs. Sure, there's probably a little bit of truth to that. But It's basically a self-propogating myth. In the late 90's/early 00's macs may have been better for certain types of software, and as such it gained reputation for that. As a result, I'm sure that many artists with no real reason to go either way, choose a mac simply because of the reputation they've heard about them.

FYI my school, which specializes in 3D Art and Programming for Games and Film, is all PC. And I've very rarely seen professional 3D artists these days who work on macs (that's just what I've seen tho, admittedly).

Also, my dad is a musician and he and all his musician friends use Windows. He hates macs too, It's one of the few things we agree on. - See - hating Macs brings people together :d

little isnt even fair anymore with macs. With greater market share comes greater amount of viruses. There are little amounts of viruses for macs compared to pcs, but there are still a substantial number of virues for the OSX operating system.

Im with combat, blind hatred of macs is fun :d

I don't hate Macs, I just hate the price tag. Value is out the window IMO.

I do all my video editing and music on a PC. I've used Macs to do some recording and I can honestly say that I still prefer PC.

Rarely ever see much artists or professionals using Macs either, its all uni students who like white laptops. Everyone in my computing class has a PC laptop. The only ones I see with Macs are those poshy stuck up artists who do art and art theory.

As for gaming, I'd much rather save my thousands of dollars on the colour of my case and instead put a better graphics card into my PC rather than get a Mac. Oh and btw Witch, I don't look at those cables as being "mess" I look at it as being individual parts of a PC that I can upgrade if I need to...instead of having to buy a whole new Mac.

With the whole less viruses issue, working with repairs and custom builds, I've found its not the system...its the user. Give a kid a Mac and I bet it'll still get a virus at some point, or malicious software. With all the Apple products out now, I can pretty much tell that the whole "virus" debate with apple will go out the window cause with growing popularity, hackers/programmers will start looking at Macs being a bigger target and start creating more malware for that market (just like the whole IE issue and Firefox).
It comes down to how up to date your anti-software is and how careful the user is.

Legit question I'll let you guys answer:
Is there anything a Mac can do that a PC can't, and vice versa?

Its true there growing and are starting to have trouble hiding behind 'security through obscurity", but thats not the only thing they have/had going for them, theres also the non-marketed things like the OS being based on Unix, so its alot harder for viruses to spread due to the architecture, coupled with being locked down more then windows. There certainly not idiot proof, like parky mentioned, its not the tool, its how you use it.

Nine Inch Nails are avid apple supports. I always spot DJ's in shows (DVDS and online webshows) sporting Macbook Pro's and most of the people i've met who are musciains, dj or produce, use macs, saying that they dont froth at the mouth at the thought of PC's there really quite indifferent. True Grit was edited all on Mac, they def got a nice little spot in the movie/music area of things, Macs are quality product that runs quality software, people are willing to pay for that.

There also heading down the green eco friendly road which is :thumb: from me (Donno if this may account for some hefty price tags, green shit usually does cost more in everything else so why not computers)

this mad me LOL hard, for shits and giggles i built this in the NZ website of apple
